You can also see if you qualify under the Hill Burton Act:

http://www.hrsa.gov/gethealthcare/affordable/hillburton/.

I haven't researched to determine if this is impacted by the Affordable Care Act, but the Hill Burton Act was created as I understand it to, in part, provide services for the indigent since the HB hospitals would be getting assistance to build hospitals.

Check out local hospitals that have religious affiliations; in our area, one of the Catholic owned hospitals provides care to the indigent.

Caesna, I'm just wondering how you got treatment at Flowers Hospital (when your ID was stolen) - the doctors there must have seen you for your medical identity to be entered into the databases and eventually be stolen.

Just wondering and trying to fit all the pieces of this puzzle together.

Ok, if you are saying that you are a veteran, have you tried to get help through the veterans website? Have you been to a veteran's hospital?

Most large counties have a hospital that is well known as the County Hospital, that sees indigent patients as well as the well-insured and everyone in between. The county Health Department may be able to help you out with medical care. The website was cut off my post regarding the low cost Cymbalta, but there should be enough information there for you to know that they can help.

Sometimes, it just seems like the load is too heavy to bear and we find it easier to just give up. That is the time pull yourself up by your bootstraps and try again. Ask a neighbor or friend for help if you need someone to advocate for you due to the fact that you are deaf. Good luck.

I think you should turn that considerable talent for making a plane out of balsa into income - you could make money at that and pull yourself up from your apparent destitute financial situation.

Why don't you contact model plane associations, and volunteer to teach a class? Or post an ad in a model plane magazine or on similar website and offer your services. You have a talent; make the most of it.

This is a portion of the Alabama State Health Laws:

Article 1. General Provisions.
§ 22-13-1. Plan for care of indigents; designation of cancer units.
It shall be the duty of the State Board of Health, with the assistance of the Committee on Cancer Control of the Medical Association of the State of Alabama, to formulate a plan for the care and treatment of indigent persons suffering from cancer and to establish and designate standard requirements for the organization, equipment and conduct of cancer units or departments in general or private hospitals or private clinics of this state. The designation of cancer units shall follow the survey of the needs and facilities for treatment of cancer found available in different localities in the state.

*Seems like you could take that info and find out where to get treatment and how to qualify.

Here's where you apply for free or low cost health care insurance, if that is something that you need:

I'm sorry that I've been unable to come up with anything useful for you up to now. I'm tapped out.

Sorry I missed where you were deaf when I was writing about being a veteran. Something you wrote about in a prior post made me think that you were. And even then, I didn't make the connection in my response to you. Sometimes it takes me a while to write these out and I forget things in the meanwhile.

I'm in the same boat. I had to walk out and check into a hotel to take a break. It would be so different if mom was just "nice", but she's not. She's verbally abusive, disrespectful, do things to deliberately go against her health like drinking, and given up on God. I just can't. Lord, help me I want to be there to assist and care, but I can no longer do it under these circumstances. It's taking too much out of me. I been doing this for 15 months and its been h*ll every step of the way.

God bless you and keep you. All the care givers my soul prays for you. Here's a hug although we need more. I wish you peace and strength
