What should I do? I have known this man for 13 years, he got to the point he could not be alone, he had a job and on the way home one day he got hit by a car, his children abandoned him, so I stepped in, I have been taking care of him ever since, I have him and a part time job, needless to say I am burnt out, I feel like I am trapped but don't want to walk out on him to I am afraid if I get him a new home he will give up. What do I do!

Find Care & Housing
bless you for trying to be an angel to this man, but, what is in this situation for you? I forsee only heartache....unless you are being paid for your help, or believe that your Heavenly rewards are worth all the temporal troubles, I do not know why you are putting your own Life in jeopardy for this man.
But bless you for trying to help.

It's sad but if you are at your breaking point then you need to arrange for care for him and use his funds to pay for it. If that means going to adult care or respite care for you do it.

Only you can allow yourself to be trapped. He will manage under the care and assistance of another. Don't stay because of guilt or fear he'll let himself go. If he is still mentally competent that is his burden.

Save yourself or die trying to save him. Sorry, but that is the truth.
