My dad has been going through all the paranoia and hullinations. We got him back inside and wouldn't let him out of house he also was trying to get physical and if he had strength still he would have hurt us. What if any ideas do you have?

I agree with the other writers about having Dad checked for an Urinary Tract Infection... being in an older person it could cause paranoia and hallucinations.

As Barbara said he needs a psych evaluation and to be checked for a UTI. It would be wonderful if we could always know the meds are effective. Unfortunately, that is not at all the case. During my mom's last six years her meds were probably adjusted 8-10 times as her needs were ever increasing. Once it had to be a geriatric in hospital evaluation which took several days to get her stable. Meds also stop working and need to be changed completely.

Dear Misro1,

I'm glad your dad is safe again but it sounds like his needs are escalating. I would have a doctor review his meds and review his condition. He might need to consider living in a more secure and monitored environment. It is horribly frightening to think how he could have been hurt today.

Whatever meds he is on may need to be adjusted.

A change in mental status should always be reported to his doctor. Good luck!

I would call 911. Get him to the hospital and get a UTI ruled out. He needs a psychiatric evaluation, asap and meds.
